This years annual motor show was once again held at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre which to be honest is probably the only venue big enough in the UK to cope with the number of visitors that this show attracts, when I went it was rammed full of people all day! Obviously there were some awesome new cars on show by all the various manufacturers including some very special new models from TVR, Noble and Audi to name but a few, but of course being as this is a site dedicated to the blue oval thats what I mainly went to see, and thats what this article is about. What I wanted to know was, what had Ford been upto in the previous year, with particular regard to the performance and RS end of the market, and sure enough on their stand were all my answers. |

This monster of a car is Ford's new concept Fiesta, sporting a 6 speed gear box, what looked liked sequential gear change, 1.6 Duratec engine, full race interior, massive brakes both front and rear and all the boulges in all the right places...this car looked awesome! At the moment though this is only a concept idea of Ford's, but with any luck if enough people show an interest we could see this in production soon. |

This was hopefully Ford's way of showing us what might be on the cards in the near future...taking a look back at the present we can see that at last there emphasis is returning to the performance sector once again. Models like the Mondeo ST220, the Focus ST170 and of course not forgetting the Focus RS all made an appearance and all looked the part to say the least. Obvioulsy we dont really know much about the Focus RS and mondeo ST220 but if they drive as well as they look they will be an outright success. Having seen the Focus RS in action at Donnington it certainly looks as if it can mix it with the best of them! |

Of course its not all about massive horsepower and huge bonnet scoops, Ford have cleverly included revamps to there tiny but ever so popular KA range and with help from the likes of the lovely Kylie Minogue the new range is without doubt going to be a huge hit with the public. The new KA comes in a rather Audi TT look-a-like convertible version as well as the new Sport KA that can be seen below which comes with a revised front and rear end that puts it into much better proportion than previous KA models to date, not forgetting the whole host of other goodies it comes with. |

Overall this was not the best Motor Show event I have been too, but what Ford had on display was very promising for the near future as well as in the longer term. It seems at last as if Ford are turning there attention back onto the performance market that has kept there Rallye Sport image alive for the past number of years and all we can hope is that they will continue to produce successful sports and RS models in the very near future. |
