Stylish and smooth and very cool thanks to cool louvres!

Subtle, Stylish and Fast, would all be perfectly good words to use to describe Bens Saphire Cosworth.

There is a lot of neat detail to his car and yet it still looks fairly stealth-like. (A bonus in my books!)

The exterior has seen a few nice touches, these incuded the cool louvres - louvred bonnet (aiding the ever present need to vacate the engine bay of hot air), a debadged and meshed grille, Clear front and side indicators and late style rear light clusters. It doesnt stop there however as Ben has also seen fit to take things a little further and debadge / delock the car and remove the headlamp wipers. He has also rolled the arches - for the Azevs sake you understand!

All this combined proves to be a truly stunning combination and helps to keep this saphs shape and character whilst adding a large portion of style and individuality.

As mentioned above one of the most obvious changes has been the removal of the lattice type alloy usually found adorning these monsters. Instead what can be found fitted is a 17" version of Azev A's which suit it no end. These have been sparingly wrapped with 215/40x17 Bridgestone S-02 tyres to aid things on the gripping front!

Side profile shows how nicely this saph sits on its 17's

This car is certainly not for show though - as if any cossie is! The interior and engine have also been treated to a make over in the best possible way...

The interior, as good as it is standard, was simply not good enough and whats now in its place resembles a leading division of DFS! Leather and Alcantera were the order of the day and what a large spread of it there is!

Alcantara and leather and cossie = Very Nice!

As you can see the interior is something special where yet more detail (as well as wads of english sterling no doubt) have been applied.

The interior has been re-trimmed using a two tone scheme which includes a tasty helping of Moonstone Alcantara (matching the exterior paint colour) and a hide or four of Anthracite leather. This works well together and if possible give this sapphire even more "street cred".

Gone is the standard cosworth steering wheel and gear knob. Both items have been replaced with aftermarket versions in the guise of a Momo Race 320mm steering wheel and a Momo Race Air Leather gear knob. Combine this with a Nomad 3-hole carbon dial surround in central air vent position - holding Autometer oil pressure, oil temperature and water temperature gauges, an Autometer boost gauge in Nomad A-pillar pod and some Autostyle mats and you have yourself one extremely tasty interior!

Unique and well thought out interior

Finally we make our way to the engine bay to see what goodies Ben has cooked up for us...358 BHP and nearly 350 lb/ft of Torque measured using an engine Dyno indicate that this is no slouch even in Cosworth terms and that it can certainly hold its own!

A custom Magnex 3" bore downpipe and exhaust system with 4" HKS tailpipe now belows out the cossies grunts with the help of a Pipercross Vector RS500 induction kit. The exhaust has recieved a helping of Thermotec wrapping in trying to help keep a cooler engine bay temperature.

Clean and functional engine bay

A Tommy Field spec ported cylinder head seated on a WRC head gasket provides the top end action whilst a Garret -34 actuator, Turbo Dynamics hybrid turbo comprising of a T28 exhaust housing and wheel, T4 compressor housing and wheel with a full roller bearing core help to force more than enough air down into the engines lungs! A Pace RS500 intercooler and Pace alloy rad have been fitted along with Samco silicone hoses which all serve a purpose as well as looking nice.

Ben is running 803 (dark green) injectors which supply an ample amount of fuel for the now larger capacity air intake.

A Tommy Field remapped ECU and a Pectel WRC loom finish of this package very nicely.

No stone has been left unturned and what we are left with is a monstrous amount of power attached to a stylish interior and a graceful exterior, all sitting on some rather large wheels! The balance has definately been struck between modification and maxxing out the motor and it shows. There is so much more to this motor so make sure you check out the stats below!

A top effort from a top bloke! Thank you Ben!

nice detailing, including the samco hoses and oddles of chrome!
