As time to the big day ticked ever closer there were frantic last ditch efforts by people to get "that" shiney bit for everyone to see or "that" part to aid with track or quarter use together and on their cars...

Thankfully I can say that it appears that everyone was successfull in doing so...The wealth of various performance and modified fords on show was testament to that.

The day started off well and with only a few minor errors with regard to where to actually meet! The convoy from the south merged with the northern convoy, before heading to Binbrook, once again the home to FordSport's trackday.

The format was pretty much the same as last years event bar the fact that the organisers decided to throw a little bit of spice into the layout and created a shortened but still quite demanding circuit as compared to last years circuit.

This coupled with a nice long runway complete with timing gear catered for the 1/4 mile nuts.

Oh and if that was not enough there was also a show 'n' shine section for those without such a need for speed

With the morning briefing out of the way it was time to venture in the direction of the track closely followed by the 1/4 mile run.

After all track participants had safely negotiated there sighting laps it was time to be let loose and for the action to begin.

As the laps soon added up the speed and the level at which the drivers were pushing there cars was clearly becoming greater...this resulted in some fantastic entertainment for the people that were watching from the safety of the bank near the entrance to the track as well as for the drivers themselves.

At times things looked like they were getting a little heated...but the Javelin marshalls were on hand to sort any problems out and or to make it clear that next time round you brake a little earlier on the hairpin!

This was obeyed by all fordsport members who actually impressed the operators of Javelin for a second year running with regard to there track and 1/4 mile behaviour and the way in which they were having fun without being stupid!

Even the best drivers made the odd error here and there but at the end of the day thats what track driving is all about, and I dare say there was a huge amount learnt by all those that participated on the track.

Thankfully the weather stayed dry all day, apart from a 5 minute drizzle in the morning (while I was on track running slicks!!!) , so there were no major incidents...and more importantly eveyone and there cars got home in one bit!

As it was an open pit and open 1/4 mile there was a small queue for most of the day trying to lay down some rubber on the 1/4 mile run.

Times ranged from modest 20 second runs to stonking 13 second runs, which on a dusty surface was a pretty good achievement, although two cosworth's participating made sure that there was plenty of rubber left on the strip for everyone else to benefit from as they side stepped the clutch at 6000rpm on take off!

If your thinking the times dont seem that quick bear in mind your run started as soon as the light went green and was not initiated through you breaking a beam...a la Santa Pod and the like, so everyone's reaction time is added to their total time. But as long as you didn't cheat yourself and go early the time would still give you a pretty good guide to your cars standing quarter time.

As the first people to venture out onto the track finally came in, the show 'n' shine section were still busy polishing away in the glorious Lincolnshire sunshine, all the cars looked fantastic and gave people that were there just to spectate even more to gawp over!
People were either out on track, running a 1/4 mile, washing or admiring cars or generally mingling and having a chat with each other, huge smiles were across a lot of the faces, particularly after returning from a track session and this continued right up until a lunch time break where England were watched beating Denmark 3-0 in the World Cup (which made the day even better!), whilst enjoying a tastey burger or a light refreshment!

With lunch out of the way it was time to pick up where the morning session left off with another bombardment on the 1/4 mile straight and some even better and harder driving readily available to see on the track!

The best 1/4 mile times fo the day can be seen below, a varied bunch of results some more impressive than others, Particularly Andy's Fiesta XR2 running a 14.87, only 0.82 away from Pete's 362bhp Cosworth!

Apologies if your not on this list

The whole day was very well organised by both FordSport and Javelin Motorsport...The weather stayed very pleasant virtually all day and there was a great turnout!

Therefore in anyones books it was a great success, and well worth the drive!

Performance Ford Magazine were in attendance on the day and there should be an article appearing in the next issue or two of their monthly publication, covering the days antics. So keep your eyes peeled for that!

Also don't forget that a video of the day's action is being compilled and will be available shortly to own, and to give you just a small taste there are a handful of movie clips for your viewing pleasure available for download below and also in the "Movies" section from the homepage.

All thats left to say is a big WELL DONE to everyone involved in a fantastic day of motorsport action!

I am under the impression there is definately going to be another one in the near future so if you missed out this time get yourself involved next time!
